1. The meeting was called to order at 11:21 AM. CST There were 43 people in attendance
2. Minute from the 01/24/2009 were read.
3. Treasurers report was read.
4. Updated the membership on the board members positions.
5. Peter Atkinson gave an update on the proposed parking lot race at the Eau Claire Technical College.
6. Update on the bodywork rule for the 4-cycle classes. Adult classes to remain the same; Rookie & Juniors require front bodywork. Full length rear bumper not mandatory and will be left up to the racer for 2009.
7. USIR Race – Jim Barnett updated the group on status. Scott Paape could not make it to the meeting. Will use own rules for each track.
8. Discussed race directors and expectations. The 2009 race directors will be Josh Goar and Nick Greeder. It was noted that the race directors run the race day, not the board members.
9. Bruce Ackey update the group on changes on tech issues.
10. Chuck Karau made a presentation on the possibility of holding a 2010 street race in Rochester MN as the fair board from their contacted him on this. The membership expressed interest on this and Chuck will continue to investigate.
11. Vintage karts – membership will welcome these racers again in 2009.
12. Days Inn motel in Eau Claire will discount racers in 2009 – Lori Akey has negotiated a rate of $53.00 per night (plus applicable taxes) for the Days Inn motel that we have stayed in for the last three + years. This rate is applicable to all MKA racers with at least one week advance reservations. Cancellations need to be made one week in advance as well.
13. As a possible way to save money the board presented a recommendation to not have an ambulance present during morning practice. The majority of the member ship approved – the board will procede accordingly. It was also noted that practice will have to be more organized with no racing allowed for this to be successful.
14. The track lease is approved.. It was noted that all must have the required pit pass; hot grid participants must have attached to the wrist.
15. The Birchwood street race is on for July 4th 2009. Bob Synder is the point man for this race – contact him on questions.
16. Discussed ways to market the club to improve kart count and attendance. Several projects are underway.
17. Clean-up weekend was discussed. Still looking for a foreman. Eric will procure one way or another.
