Members Present:
The meeting was called to order by President Eric Pitzele at 6:41 PM. CST
A quorum was present.
1. The minutes from the 02/11/2009 board meeting were read and approved.
2. The treasurer’s report was read and approved.
3. Eau Claire Technical College Parking Lot Race
Peter Atkinson will head up a sub committee consisting of Bob Synder, Bruce Akey and Jim Barnett To work with the tech college and SCCA club for 2010. Peter Atkinson will have a presentation/update for the membership meeting.
4. USAIR Race Shawano, WI
Jim Barnett is continuing to work with the Shawano track for a joint event in 2009. Scott Paapa, the track manager for USAIR will be at the March 28th General Membership Meeting at Pizza Hut in Hudson, to discuss the race series at USAIR and Eau Claire Raceway. At this time the evening race 08/18/2009 may be the date for Eau Claire. Discussed classes and tire rules. Trophies would be presented for the final points.
5. Tech Updates – Bruce will provide updates to the 2009 tech changes at the membership meeting.
WKA has made a change on the valve spec for the Animal. MKA will allow the 2008 or 2009 for the upcoming season.
We will not mandate a change to the rear bumper this season.
Discussed TAG tire rules for 2009. Will discuss with MKA Tag racers before setting any requirements.
Discussed possible change to the protest rule. N actions taken at this time. Board members to review and propose changes.
6. Marketing Plans – continued discussions on efforts to promote the club and improve kart counts. Discussion included the possibility of some coverage on local cable stations. Actions include:
Bob Synder to contact Midwest Racing Connection for ad costs and race coverage.
Jim Barnett to send out the MKA brochure to the board members updating and distribution.
Eric Pitzele volunteered to put a free ad in on his pizza deliveries.
7. Yamaha KT100 Can Promotion no update other than this looks promising.
8. Budget
Discussed not having the ambulance present during the morning practices. This would be a significant cost reduction. However, we would need to ensure that the practice are properly organized, no racing and participants are spread out. A motion was made and approved to present this to the membership at the 3/28/2009 meeting for a vote.
9. Clean-up Weekend
Jim Barnett presented a list of tasks for the clean-up weekend. The board reviewed the list and felt it had most everything covered. Further discussion and planning will be done at the membership meeting.
Jim will contact Menards to have the power and water turned on for the clean-up weekend.
10. Rick Schafer to get pit spot map prepared for reservations.
11. Track lease has been reviewed and signed for the 2009 season.
12. General Membership Meeting is 03/28/2009 at the Pizza Hut in Hudson at 11:05 AM.
Tentative date for the next board meeting is 04/15/2009 @ 6:30 at the Pizza Hut.
