The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM. CST
A quorum was present
1. Membership Roster
Dave MacIntyre will make a membership roster to check off the eligible voting members for the board of directors voting that will take place at the 2009 general membership meeting on Saturday January 24th 2009 at the Pizza Hut in Hudson Wisconsin.
2. USAIR Racetrack
President Jim Barnett has contacted Scott Paape at USAIR (Shawano, Wisconsin) about racing there. Scott has one day racing (Sunday) only in 2009. Saturday is their open practice day and MKA is invited to attend both days when a suitable weekend can be determined. Jim will continue discussions with Scott Paape.
3. Birchwood Wisconsin
The 4th of July race in Birchwood has been secured for Saturday, July 4th 2009
4. 2009 Parking lot race
The technical college at Eau Claire is interested in having MKA put on a parking lot race on a Saturday in 2009 on the same track that they will use for Autocross racing on the next day (Sunday). Membership interest will be addressed at the general membership meeting on January 24th 2009. Dates of this opportunity for MKA are still to be determined. Jim Barnett will have more information at the general membership meeting.
5. Full Sized Rear Bumpers Two Cycle Karts
Full sized rear bumpers are required per WKA rules in 2009 for 2-cycle karts. For 2009 MKA will allow the old style bumpers in 2009 however the new style full rear bumpers will be required on all 2-cycle karts in 2010. A motion was made, seconded, and passed.
6. Briggs Restrictor Plates
There was much discussion on the Briggs rookie and junior restrictor plates. In 2008 WKA set new rules for these classes. These rules do not fit MKA class structure well So, the MKA board decided to stay with the rules we used in 2008. (That is 2007 WKA rules)
7. Front brakes on TAG Karts
TAG USA rules do not allow front brakes and these are the rules that MKA uses. However, our rules do/did allow front brakes if an additional 20 pounds is added to the kart. This will no longer be allowed. If your kart has active front brakes they must be disabled to the satisfaction of the race director to be legal. A motion was made on this item, seconded, and passed.
8. Track Configurations
MKA voting members will be given a print out of the different potential track configurations for 2009 at the general membership meeting on January 24th 2009. The members will be asked to vote on how many times they would like to run each of the track configurations in 2009. The final track configurations for 2009 will be determined by the results from these hand outs
9. Motel
Lori Akey has negotiated a rate of $53.00 per night (plus applicable taxes) for the Days Inn motel that we have stayed in for the last three + years. This rate is applicable to all MKA racers if advanced reservations are made.
Rick Schafer made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Bruce Akey seconded this motion. The motion passed unanimously at 9:35 pm cst.
